DOGS

In recent years the population of dogs has changed. Our pets tend to be smaller, come in pairs and have an elongated bodies and short legs. They tend to be agressive, food-oriented and full of fear.

There is a whole industry in Europe's outback, to overflow us with these type of dogs. Some have lived in the wild, were used for dogfights and races, but most of them come from puppy-mills. Results of decennia of inbreeding.

People, mostly women, love them and carry them around.

Once in Holland, they are fed with meat and snacks. The chicken smells and tastes excellent. Can be sold as French patheh, f.i. in Hungary.

In the “Shop” dogs were allowed

Ryanna was on duty, Wlad has brought his 2 dogs and I settled in the corner, next to the, fake, classical clock.

There were two types of customers. Most of them only came to buy stuff. Some were permitted inside. Handling these two groups was the core of Ryanna's “business”. Service with a smile.

Gradually the place filled up. The atmosphere was almost feminine and relaxed. Reggae music. “Stand up for your right.” One of Ryanna's qualities, to create a hospitable and friendly coffeeshop. She did not realise her full potential. Yet.

On her shift the visitors were mostly male. Seven of them were drawing her attention at this moment. Drawn by her subtle powers. She put a cup of coffee in front of me and handed me the newspaper. My ritual start of the day.
