THE HOLY SCRIPTURES (the Book of Books)

the right- and left-hand path

An important, but often neglected difference between the Arabic, Jewish amd Christian believers, and many non-believers as well, is the way they write.

Arabs, and other Muslims, as well as the Jews they write and read from right to left, Christians and Westerners read and write from right to left.

This simple fact is one of the defining factors in your daily life. It is used in global advertising PEPSI ISPEP or NATO OTAN. A Bible, the Torah and the Qu'ran are completely different and have a completely internal architecture and appearance. Scrolls function different when used for study and ritual from books and codexes.

The Bible is a codex. A collection of connected pamflets, books and religious texts, A selection made by Christian churchleaders and teachers in Nicea (modern-day Turkey) in 325 ad. Emperor Constantine ordered 40 Bibles, the first edition so to say, to be copied and distributed among the main Christian communities. Of these archetypal codexes none seem to have survived. The first “complete” Bible was found in a orthodoxe monastery in the dessert (Codex Sinaiticus) and was written down in the 6th century.

The original Bible Codex was a selection, from the many religious books, gospels, apocalypses and creation-stories. There was much to do about John's apocalyptic book of Revelation, and it almost was left out. It became the last book of the Bible.

In the early days of the Christian church used not Latin, but Aramaic and, maybe, Hebrew. Both are written from right to left. Which means that a codex was composed and bound differently. John's book of Revelation was, originally the FIRST book of the Bible; a short history and motivation to reflect on our past and to learn. This being said, apart from the left-out and banished potential bible-literature, the New Testament needs reshuffling and new research and explanations.
