Anton Lavey was the founder and High Priest of the Church of Satan. He died on 29 october 1997 in California, 67 years old.

The firtHighpriest of Satan, whose real name was “Howard Stanton Levy”, was of Jewish descent. First representative of “modern satanism”.

Anton Szandor LaVey, werkelijke naam Howard Stanton Levy, (Chicago (Illinois), 11 april 1930 - San Francisco (Californië), 29 oktober 1997) was een Amerikaanse satanist van Joodse komaf. Hij was de oprichter van de Church of Satan, waarmee het zogeheten moderne satanisme of LaVeyaans satanisme officieel van start is gegaan. Leden van deze kerk, nog steeds “alive and kicking” waren (en zijn) actief in het debat “evolutie of intelligent design”.
