Generally is believed, that the Wehrmacht lost its supremacy, after the defeat at Staligrad.
Von Manstein is said to have debated the coming strategy in 1943 with Adolf Hitler. He preferred a year of stabilization, to regroup and let the troops regain their strength and will to fight.
Hitler wanted to keep the initiative, which led to the battle at Kursk. In between Nazi-forces were succesfull in regaining Charkov.

Nazi's
wilden Churchill doden met explosief in reep chocola
De Duitsers
hadden in 1943 een vergevorderd plan om de Britse premier Winston
Churchill om te brengen met een explosief dat was verstopt in een
reep chocola. Dat blijkt volgens de Daily Mail uit een pas opgedoken
document.

De reep had
moeten worden binnengesmokkeld in de War Rooms, de ruimten waar de
verantwoordelijke ministers en legerleiders vergaderden over het
verloop van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Er was een verpakking ontworpen
van zwart papier met gouden letters en een logo waarop het merk
'PETERS' stond.
